Determining the MAC address of VX Engines

Updated 4 months ago by John (JP) Powell

Scope

The method described here applies to all VX Engines, but can be used for other devices as well.

Description

Sometimes, the MAC address of the SIP interface needs to be reported to a provider for provisioning. Here we'll show you how to easily find that.

The first place to look is on the System > Status page of the VX's web GUI under System Health:

If it's not listed there, the best thing to do is open a command prompt on a PC that is connected to the same network as the desired VX Ethernet interface and issue the arp -a command.

This will show a list of all of the devices on the network referenced by MAC address against IP address. So now, find the IP address of the VX's interface and look for the MAC address associated with it.
