Omnia.11 "AES Sync" Indicator

Updated by Mark Manolio

Scope

This document explains what the "AES Sync:" indication in the Input / Detail screen means.

Description/Question

Q: I just noticed that my Omnia.11 has an AES Sync status indication in the Input / Detail metering pane. Mine says "Locked". What, exactly does that indicate?

Solution

A: The "AES Sync:" indication reflects the status of the AES3 clock recovery PLL on the main AES input.  It doesn't have anything to do with the "Ext sync" input or the state of either of the AES outputs.  If the main input PLL is unlocked (and you are using the main input), distorted input audio would likely result.
