Enable or Disable Telnet in xNodes

Scope

This article applies to Axia xNodes using software version 2.4.7 or higher only.

Description

Version 2.4.7 Axia xNode software included a number of security updates at the request of many of you (our users). One of these requests was to disable the default telnet connection to port 23. This port is automatically disabled when you update to version 2.4.7.

Manually enable or disable Telnet

If you need to re-enable Telnet;

  1. Using a Web Browser, navigate to the main Web Page of your xNode and log in.
  2. Click the System link from the menu on the left.
  3. On the System page, set the Enable Telnet Server option to Enabled or Disabled.
  4. Click Apply at the bottom of the page.
A reboot is not required. Telnet port 23 is immediately enabled or disabled based on your selection.
