Getting your old Color Picker back in Google Chrome

Updated by Bryan Jones

Scope

This article applies to the process of picking colors in Pathfinder Core Pro when using the Chrome browser.

Description

If you are editing panels or making other color selections in Pathfinder Core PRO while using Google Crome, you might notice that the color picker you are used to has now changed and now looks like this.

The choice of color pickers isn't controlled by Pathfinder, but by the browser. It turns out this change of color pickers was due to an experimental feature first designed in late 2019 for Microsoft Edge which is based on Chromium.

You can disable this by pasting this link in your Chrome browser chrome://flags/#form-controls-refresh.

This will take you to the "Experiments" page when you can set this control to Disabled. The control is called;

"Web Platform Controls updated UI - If enabled, HTML forms elements will be rendered using an updated style. – Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, Android". Set this to Disabled as shown here. You will be prompted to relaunch your browser.

After relaunch, your color picker is returned to what it was previously.
